Cheap Healthy Snacks

Eating a healthy snack is great for when the next meal is right around the corner. But it is best to eat something small and tasty so you feel satisfied with what you ate, hopefully this will tide you over until your next full meal comes around.

Now here is a number of healthy snack ideas that are great when your peckish and on a budget, but still want to eat something healthy.
1. Popcorn
Popcorn is a simple low carb healthy snack that is high in fiber. While microwave popcorn isn’t healthy, popcorn making is quick and easy if you have a dedicated popcorn popper! Also it had a bunch of belly filling fiber that with some water will keep you sated for a while.
2. Hard boiled eggs

This is a favorite of mine, I usually boil up half a dozen and leave them in the fridge so I can have a small healthy snack at any point thought the next few days. It took one or two tries to learn how to properly make hard boiled eggs so they shells comes off easy, but after a bit of practice it will take no time!
3. Yogurt

Yogurt is a healthy snack that is so convenient, the individually packaged snacks sizes are quick to grab and eat when your busy and on the go. There is also Greek yogurt, or just plain yogurt which I can completely understand why people always get flavored yogurt.
4. Blueberries

These are a great snack, but also double as a great ice cube when left in the freezer for a while. After I finish my drink I have a healthy snack in the bottom of my cup.
5. Frozen Grapes
Grapes are a simple snack that is a nice little treat for anyone to eat!
6. Apples

While it might be simple, but really apples are another really good snack that you can eat anytime. They are healthy and great frugal snacks that just keep coming back due to how good they are for you!
7. Cheese
Cheese is such a easy snack that you can pair with so many things. A number of the items on the list also pairs well with cheese, namely apples, grapes and other sliced vegetables or fruit. Cheese usually gets a bad reputation for being unhealthy, in large amounts with nothing else, yeah it isn’t that healthy. But in moderate amounts with a variety of vegetables and fruits it is quite healthy. So a little bit here and there through the day is a good thing.
8. Hummus
I have made homemade Hummus for years, pairing it with some tortilla chips or fresh fruit is a great nutritious snack. Also having it on some toast with butter is great late night snack as well.
9. Tortilla chips

One of my favorite nightly snacks are tortilla chips and sour cream. It hits the spot just right and doesn’t keep me up like proteins do. That and it keeps me from grabbing more food, just a dozen chips and some sour cream and I am good for the night.
10. Celery
Celery is one of the original healthy snack ideas. It can be paired with a number of tasty things like cottage cheese or a seed butter and it really hits the spot when your between meals. It can also be enjoyed with peanut butter for a little bit of great saltiness to the flavor.
11. Nut Butters

This one has a wide selection with the many kinds of nut butter there are, but my favorite is peanut butter myself. While another choice of nut butters is the various seed nut butters with various kinds of mixes and types around, these paired with apples or celery makes for a tasty snack.
12. Carrot sticks
Carrot sticks are one of the the great cheap healthy snacks that is also one of the great kid friendly snacks.
13. Salad
A salad as a snack is one of the great healthy foods that while by itself can be spiced up with some healthy fats like some shredded cheese or basil to turn what might be bland before into a tasty treat quickly. Also if you want some more healthy fat in the salad dice up some hard boiled eggs into the salad for a healthy snack.
14. Broccoli
Eating it raw, steamed or with dip, all three ways there are little things that can turn what many people see as a hard to eat vegetable into a treat. I find that using an air fryer with a little spray bit of avocado oil and garlic powder turns what people never finish, into one of the few things my family can eat anytime.
15. Granola bars
This one is special in that you can of course buy some granola bars from the grocery store, but what about some homemade Granola bars? They are cheap snacks that you can make anytime! Even add some mini chocolate chips to make this one disappear in no time! Budget friendly snack ideas like this one can be paired with a number of other things on this list that makes it
16. Seeds
This is a great healthy snack that is great year around. The numerous kinds of seeds that are great to eat some of these are sunflower seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds. I like the salted pumpkin seeds personally, but all of these can be bought in bulk, making them cheap healthy snacks.
17. Pita bread
Every once in a while I get some pita bread, and buy a small tub of tzatziki and just go dipping to my hearts content. It also tastes so good with most meats as well so it usually disappears very quickly.
18. Cauliflower
The best way to eat cauliflower is either using an air fryer with some avocado oil and garlic powder and salt. Or steam them and spread some shredded cheese over top. Both ways get eaten regularly, and quickly compared to just raw cauliflower which is a bit hard to eat.
19. Cream cheese
Cream cheese with a few crackers is a great snack at any point in the day, while it might not be as healthy as other entries on this list. I can’t help but mention it due to having just a spoon full of it with some crackers, or on a piece of toast should be enough to sooth your hunger quickly.
20. Rice cake
Rice cakes are another cheap healthy snack that is one of the easy snacks that just keeps me coming back. Paired with some fruit or vegetables it quickly becomes one of the great cheap and healthy snacks that I find when we have them in the house they mysteriously disappear.
21. Cherry tomatoes
These bites sized tomatoes are the perfect snack for when you want to eat healthy without worrying about if what you ate was good for you or not.
22. Frozen edamame
A short time in the microwave or of boiling them on the stove and you got a snack that will keep you sated until the next meal comes around. It is one of the great health foods that only a few people seem to talk about. It’s rich in vitamins and minerals, with a bunch of protein per serving so you will be fuller for longer for sure eating some edamame!
23. Cucumber
This can be paired with a number of other things on the list, especially some tzatziki makes this just a delicious snack. When you have this try cutting it into cucumber slices with some hummus, it makes a great combo at any time.
24. Corn tortillas
When your hungry for something but you want something a little more satisfying, but still healthy. Try heating up some leftover chicken, grabbing some salad and dressing and putting them in a tortilla and you have a cheap healthy snack!
25. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is cheap healthy food that has numerous healthy benefits. It lowers your cholesterol while also helping with weight loss and controlling blood sugar levels. It is also high in fiber and contains antioxidants.
While this list isn’t exhaustive with all of all the snack ideas in the world, I will try to keep adding to it as time goes on.
