When the holidays have gone, but still want some of the warm spices that makes it great. This pumpkin bread is a nice tasty treat that is great warmed up with butter or room temperature.

This particular recipe is the best pumpkin bread recipe because it is a simply delicious recipe that you can enjoy anytime. This soft loaf is great anytime for a little tasty treat. While also being the perfect recipe to make anytime in the year.

To use pumpkin pie spice or just use your own pumpkin spice mix

In this recipe there are options for both. If you only have pumpkin pie spice you are perfectly fine, if you have all the individual spices you can make the recipe just as well.

Why use baking soda and baking powder?

This recipe is based of quick bread recipes, but I wanted to add in pumpkin flavor. Making it possibly the first of many of my own personal pumpkin bread recipes. While I use any excuse to make anything a version with pumpkin favor in it.

What is the difference between pure pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie mix?

Pure pumpkin puree is just canned pumpkin. It allows you to spice and create the recipe to your own wants.

Pumpkin pie mix is canned pumpkin pie filling already mixed with spices and sweetened, saving you a fair amount of time.

Already having all the spices premixed, for this recipe all you would need to do is make the flour mixture without the spices add in the butter, eggs with the baking soda and powder and it would be done in no time.

The difference between pumpkin pie filling and pumpkin puree is pumpkin pie mix has all the pumpkin pie spices already in it. With spices like allspice, ginger, cloves and cinnamon with some sweeteners.

Yes you can you can add walnuts or pecans to the top, some people even use pumpkin seeds without the shells on top as well.

You can also sift some powdered sugar over top of the loaf to add a little bit of extra sweetness.

What can I add into the recipe?

You can also add chopped nuts and a bit more spices making this an amazing soft tasty loaf that doesn’t need much else to eat. Also you can even add dried cranberries, sultana raisins, chopped dates as well.

Also you can add chocolate chips, semi sweet or dark chocolate chips work as well with this recipe.

How to Make the Best Pumpkin Bread recipe

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups of all purpose flour

1 teaspoon of baking sodas

1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

3 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice or 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon of ginger.

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 cup of brown sugar

1 cup of melted salted butter

2 eggs

1 cup of pure pumpkin puree

Directions

1. First we combine all the dry ingredients into a large bowl. The flour, baking soda, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt and brown sugar. Also preheat oven to 350 degrees f.

2. Mix it well and set aside for the moment.

3. next we combine the wet ingredients into a medium bowl. I used a measuring cup here but it works great for melting butter.

4. mix the melted salted butter and the eggs together until combined.

5. We will add in the pumpkin puree to the wet and mix all the wet ingredients together.

6. Next we pour the wet into the dry ingredients.

7. We mix it until the dry ingredients are mixed thoroughly into the wet with no flour or powder to be seen. The pumpkin mixture will have a thick consistency and might take a bit of time to mix properly.

8. Now we prepare some ovenware or (if you doubled the recipe multiple) 9 inch loaf pans by greasing it thoroughly or use non stick cooking spray.

9. Now pour batter into ovenware or a loaf pan and double check that none of the dry ingredients are unmixed. Spread the batter evenly around in the loaf pan or ovenware.

  1. The finished mixture should fit nicely into the ovenware (or if doubling the recipe prepared pans) with a fair amount of room to the top. Because this is going to rise a fair amount. Place the ovenware into the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

11.The finished baked pumpkin pie bread should look something like this.

12. Wait 10 minutes for the pumpkin pie bread to cool before removing from ovenware and place it on a wire rack. The loaf should slip out of the ovenware quite easily due to all the greasing and the butter in the pumpkin mixture as well.

13. Let the bread cool completely for about two hours on the wire rack. Now comes the best part, now we eat it! I mean serve it to everyone!

Storing the Pumpkin bread

I use plastic wrap to cover and store the loaf in the fridge, it should last a week in the fridge fully covered.

It can also be frozen when wrapped up in plastic wrap and stored in a freezer bag for three months in the freezer. When you pull it out of the freezer give it a day to defrost in the fridge.

Best ways to serve this leftover pumpkin pie bread

This is best served with a little bit of butter or margarine, this pumpkin bread is simply a great tasty treat.

Pumpkin bread recipe notes

In this recipe you can replace the 1 cup of melted salted butter with 1 cup of vegetable oil if desired.

Also I have tried to reducing sugar to a minimal amount so that this is much healthier but not lacking in flavor at all. Also not adding white granulated sugar and instead using brown sugar I find I get more flavor with it.

This recipe can easily be doubled to allow you to make two loaves of bread easily. And being a quick bread it is so fast and easy to make that doubling the recipe you would need two bigger bowls for when your mixing the ingredients. That and two loaf pans of course.

Another possibility with this recipe is it works perfectly for mini muffins as well. Just get a muffin pan and some muffin liners and you have a number of delicious muffins in no time!

Another option is to use a mini loaf pan and make a number of mini loafs. That and top them with pumpkin seeds and you have a delicious treat that fits great in a lunch box as well.

You can substitute the salted butter for orange juice with another 1/2 teaspoon of salt. This would go well with more spices.

What can I do with the leftover pumpkin puree?

You can make some of the other recipes that I have! While I usually buy the bigger cans 794ml (27 ounces) I only use some for each individual recipe.

How long does opened pumpkin puree last?

I usually have left over pumpkin puree in the fridge, while I close the can quickly and put it in the fridge it usually takes me a few days to use some more of it for another pumpkin recipe. It lasts five to seven days in the fridge in an airtight container.
